  4.     It would be a cruel irony if the hostilities being carried on
  5. between the Soviet republics of Armenia and Azerbaijan should lead
  6. to the downfall of Mikhail Gorbachev (WORLD, Oct. 23). Their
  7. strife may eventually bring a halt to glasnost by the irresponsible
  8. and unthinking exercise by their peoples of newfound, but evidently
  9. misunderstood, freedom.

  14.     I find Paul Hofheinz's article "On the Edge of Civil War,"
  15. describing the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, heavily
  16. one-sided. Reading his account, one concludes that the Armenians
  17. are the unquestionable oppressors in this tragic feud. Journalistic
  18. ethics should insure the reader against such distorted accounts.
